damn morals

so i arrived home today to find a partially disassembled laptop w/ a xbox stacked on top of it to the immediate left of my door. i, being the fine upstanding young man that i am, immediately call my friend mike to see what he thought i should do ethicswise. after talking to him for a while i decided to call the police and report it. what a waste of time. first they switched me to dispatch, who told me that they wouldn't dispatch for that, and would i bring it in to the station. i then asked if maybe i should just put up fliers stating that i had found some electronics, and if anyone could describe them that i would return them. she then suggested that i talk to the apartment managers at which time the silent listening supervisor cut in and said that they would definately be dispatching someone to pick up the things, and what was my address. when i gave them my address they realized that i had called the wrong city and switched me over to the henderson pd, where i had to explain about the mysterious appearing xbox once again. they said that they would send someone out to pick it up, and sure enough, 1 hour later there they were. they asked me questions about it, told me to keep my hands out of my pocket, asked when i left for work, how long i had been living here, the woman looked at the old paper that had been delivered to my non-existent neighbor, asked where i worked, and took down my license and ssn. all for about $300 of stuff. i should have just taken it, damn morals.
