post fahrenheit
well, i just saw fahrenheit 9/11 and it was pretty good. i mean it was the typical michael moore film, but hey i'm a liberal who feels similar to moore so i liked it. plus i hate bush so i liked it. the suprising thing for me was the number of people there. the theater was filled to capacity. as many people there as for shrek 2. admittedly shrek was being shown on 10 times the number of theaters, but still it was suprising to see the theater packed. it was also suprising when the man sitting next to me broke down in tears when the war footage was shown. it was very gruesome, but i think it is footage that we as a country need to see. we've bought into the smart bomb, pinpoint accuracy line so much that we tend to see war as just watching bombs explode from a distance without seeing the aftermath. i think it's good for americans to see the carnage that is war, especially when we are the country waging the war of choice. remember that some estimates of civilian casualties in iraq are as high as 10,000. so you can see how good the pinpoint accuracy is. for me the funniest part of the movie was watching shrub landing on the aircraft carrier to the theme from the greatest american hero. the lyrics are just so fitting, especially "it should have been someone else".
