death valley life
well, i just got back from a day spent in death valley where the wild flowers are in full bloom as a result of all the rain we've had in the area this winter/spring, and it was beautiful. (photos in the gallery) this was my first trip to death valley, and it was interesting. because of the flowers, and maybe the time of year, the place was packed. there was a line 20 people deep to buy things from the convenience store. there was so much yellow and green out there, and the backdrop of snow in the mountains made for some spectacular views. besides the flowers there was lots of salt flats, sand dunes, pretty rocks, and pupfish. the sand dune and pupfish photos will be up soon. the only thing that was a downer was the number of roads that were closed made it hard to get back to vegas without backtracking, but we did manage it, including a trip to a ghost town north of vegas. we had lunch in beatty and drove home. all in all a very good trip.
