glad to see that dick
glad to see that dick cheney's wife has decided to reestablish the unamerican activities committee. it's so comforting knowing that the vice president of this country apparently feels comfortable enough with this type of thought that he married the person who founded the organization that put out that report. why is it suddenly anti-american to criticize our policies in the middle east? they were bad before 9-11, and they are bad after 9-11. just because i believe that this was a result of our(usa's) questionable foreign policy in the middle east, does not mean that i think the attacks were justified. that's like saying that because someone was jaywalking that they deserved to be hit and killed by a drunk driver. but, you also should be careful when you decide to jaywalk, and look both ways.

is anyone else just not
is anyone else just not buying the accident theory about the latest plane crash? i mean come on, it was 2 months and 1 day after the wtc crashes, and on a important national holiday. to top it off, it seems as if the plane just fell apart. i understand that everyone is being cautious about saying that it was terrorism, but how often do planes lose the tail, and both engines, just minutes after taking off, after going through a maintenance checkup 8 hours before. the plane evidently started to shake almost immediately, and within a few seconds, started shedding parts like a flock of birds at molting time. it would seem very simple for one of the maintenance crew to have loosened key bolts(it's not like they wouldn't know which ones would do the job) and let the stress of takeoff do the rest of the work. there are too many weird circumstances surrounding this crash for me to believe that this was strictly an accident. also remember that there are about 6 major airlines that are facing bankruptcy in the near future. don't you think that everyone involved is going to try to keep the public calm, and flying? if air travel drops off now, it could cripple the industry for decades. anyhow, the whole thing leaves me with a sick feeling, like how i've felt ever since the wtc.

i had quite the interesting
i had quite the interesting night last night. it started out at the moose lodge drinking moose milk, which tasted like a foo foo drink, but it had an alcohol burn to it as well. after i snuck out around 12:00, i walked home. as i arrived at my house, i heard a car driving down the street hitting street signs. the guys inside were having a good old time, judging by the yells coming from inside. they did a u-turn, and came up my street as i getting ready to call the cops, so i went in the porch. they then turned into the church drop off zone, and the passenger got out and tried to open the door of the church. it was locked, of course, so he got back in, and they backed up and rammed the church doors 3 or 4 times. then, they drove off, hitting another sign, and almost hitting a car as they drove the wrong way down 3rd ave, and turned onto 10th st. then, i was woken up at 6:50am by the police calling me to take a statement, and was told that they had caught the people who they thing did it. i normally don't like the police, but when somebody is doing something so stupid it makes me appreciate what they do. i guess i just have problems with them when they are enforcing little insignificant laws, like speeding, and all ages show crackdowns.

so the twins appear to
so the twins appear to be no more. it's good to see that instead of fixing the real problem, mlb has decided to reduce the number of teams effected by the problem. does selig really think that he can fix the league by removing 2 teams? it's like cutting off your hands to cure hepatitus. the problem with baseball, is that they have no parity in the league. the large markets can basically buy themselves a championship. now this is not a new developement, since the yankees have always been able to do this, but it has become so blatant in recent years that the fans in smaller markets are no longer willing to pay to watch it. the problem isn't that minnesota can't support a team, it's that it has been 10 years since the twins were in contention at the end of the season. look at the turnout this year when they were in first place. look at the turnout in 87 when they won, they set a league record for attendance. don't even get me started on the need for a salary cap(not to mention interleague play and the dh). it's not minnesota that has the problem, it's baseball, and the decision to contract the league by the owners does nothing to fix it.
