i have discovered that i
i have discovered that i am completely out of shape. i went mountain biking for the first time yesterday, and my legs, and ass are very sore today. i also felt like i was going to die while i was pedaling at 4800 feet. i remember when i could ski all day at 10,000ft, and not feel any effects(ok, so i was 16, but still).

the joys of government agencies.
the joys of government agencies. i went in to get my nevada drivers license, and found out that because i had paid a fine on the last day, nd had suspended my license for about 4 hours. the reason they did this was that the paper work didn't go through fast enough. anyhow, it wasn't a problem in nd, since they could look at it and see that it wasn't a real suspension, but here in nevada it looks like one. i called nd dmv, and they changed it so it's not on my record at all, but now i have to wait for another day before i can get my license without taking the written test over. it's kind of weird that i cared, since i had to take the written test when i transfered my license to nd. i guess it's just because in nd everyone had to do it, and this time, it was basically a clerical error that was forcing me to. now i have to find a way to get my check cashed so that i have some cash to spend in the next 3 days since i need to be a nevada resident before i can set up my credit union accounts. oh well.
belarus is my new favorite
belarus is my new favorite hockey team. did you see that game? wow that's about all i can say.
oh and i've add a bragging/complaining weather condition readout to the bottom right. it probably will not stay for very long, but for now i like it.February 17, 2002
it rained today for the
it rained today for the first time since i moved to vegas. not much of a rain, but enough to put spots on my freshly washed car. in other news, i still don't have a job. :)
i hope to go see penn and teller this week. it's $55, but it should be worth it since i can go early and see penn play upright bass. i guess they have a jazz pianist playing before the show, and penn is playing bass in the shadows. how do i know this? penn told the internet on their webpage. i really like p and t. i guess i really like magic, but i don't like being told that it is some supernatural power that these people have. i'm more amazed that they can fool me into thinking that i saw something happen that didn't than if they had some special power. p and t have always avoided the stupid shit that most magicians do, and as a result, they are great. plus i've been on stage with them, so i guess we have a special bond(albeit a one way bond). oh, yesterday my team(pink) played ultimate against the white team, and we won. 13 to 8. i just about died from lack of conditioning, and a hangover, and i saw 3 people get injured. not bad for a noncontact sport. 2 of the injuries were aggravations of prior injuries, and didn't involve any collisions, the other one was a pretty hard collision that occurred after the disc was caught. come to think of it, i broke my nose twice playing ultimate, and i've seen 2 people break their wrists, and many knee and ankle injuries. maybe i should reconsider playing...nah, i'll just risk it. hopefully i will get more in shape, and won't make such a wheezing spectacle of myself in a few weeks.February 13, 2002
i sent in an application
i sent in an application to konami. maybe i will be working for a vg company. wouldn't that be cool. i have about 15-20 applications in, but i have yet to hear from anyone. i am going to start calling some of them back today. in paticular impac, the first company i applied for.
yesterday i played ultimate for the first time in 13 years. boy am i out of shape. in the time when i wasn't weezing like a beached whale, i was able to remember some of the technical side of the game. hopefully i will start to get my wind back in the next couple of weeks. afterwards everyone(ok, about half) went out for drinks at pt's. there was some discussion about the location as many people think that pt's has no character. i kind of agree as it is a pretty big las vegas chain and as such lacks a little bit of the grunge that fargo bars have. i haven't found a place for fargo bands to play in vegas yet, but i haven't really had time to research it yet. i promise that by the time mike, amber, casey, and jody come out this way that i will have a place for them to play. hopefully i can find a casino lounge for them to play in, just for the style factor.February 11, 2002
so why would the palestinians
so why would the palestinians ever want to comply with israel's demands to arrest palestinian militants when israel bombs the palestinian prisons? last time i checked that was a violation of the geneva convention. where is the public outcry about this? they have also targeted the palestinian police, who they then ask to arrest the militants and put them all in one place so that they can use less bombs to kill them. and they wonder why arafat is unwilling to arrest people.
i hate figure skating judges,
i hate figure skating judges, and for that matter snowboarding judges. jj didn't deserve to win a bronze for his out of control, lucky run, and the russians didn't deserve to win the gold in figure skating, the canadians clearly won in both technical and artistry.
Jamie Sale and David Pelletier, you get my gold medal.

last night was my first
last night was my first night out in the big casinos here in vegas. carmen, craig and i went out to the hard rock and to the palms. the hard rock was interesting. i won 2 dollars in an anarchy in vegas slot machine, and promptly lost it all. drinks were about $4 there. we then left and went to the palm, where drinks were $3.75, and we got to see the real world crew. i guess the next real world is set in vegas, and a couple of the guys had come out to the palm to drink and gamble. it also was the chinese new year, and the casino had a dragon parade manned by many caucasian people. people watching is certainly entertaining here.:)
i also went to ultimate league orientation/workshops yesterday. they were fun, but i know now that i am an old man. i hurt today. i am on the pink team, and starting next week, you will be able to check out our standings on the lvultimate page. my team was prodominantly female, so i've got that going for me, which is nice. i guess there are some more guys that are going to play, who just couldn't make it there yesterday. i think that ultimate should be a good time. the people seem friendly, and it will be plenty of exercise, which we all know i need.:)has anyone been able to download urban terror beta 2.4? supposedly it was released on friday, but i haven't been able to find it anywhere. the link on the ut site is for 2.3. hmmmm. i hope i find it soon.February 08, 2002
so i guess it's time
so i guess it's time for an update from vegas now. i left fargo on saturday the 2nd, around 5:00pm, and drove to a rest stop just outside of omaha, where i spent the night. it was about 7F that night, and when i arose, it was very cold in my sleeping bag. i left there around 6:45am, and drove to lincoln, where i ate breakfast(a greasy, tasty meal at cubby's that disagreed with me later on, causing me to have to buy some tums) and drove through to just outside of denver, when i stopped for dinner(i can't remember the town, but i ate at arbys). i had decided to try to catch the superbowl in denver, but since it around half time, i changed my mind, and decided to drive straight through until midnight. my poor car had some problems with the passes, and i was forced to drive around 45 mph uphill, and around 40 mph downhill, as the trailer really pushed me along. around vail, i started looking for a good rest stop, but i soon discovered that colorado has the strange practice of putting rest stops in the towns, so i was unable to find one that was acceptable for sleeping, and wound up staying in a super 8 in parachute, co. the next day, i started out around 9:00am, and drove through to vegas, arriving about 6:45pm, where i was met by craig and carmen, who promptly took me out to a bar.
so now that you know how i arrived here, let me tell you a little about vegas. first off, it is warm here. i haven't worn a coat since i arrived, except for to bring it into the house. today it is 57F and sunny, so as you can guess, i'm missing fargo weather(that is sarcasm). today, i went out shopping(at target of all places) and got my computer connected to carmen's cable line. this afternoon, i am going to a job fair, so wish me luck. i'm a little nervous about finding a job, but everyone i talk to tells me that i shouldn't have any problem getting one. we'll see about that. after the job fair, i am going to go and play ultimate for the first time since 1989. should be interesting. well, that's going to be about it for now, but stay tuned for more details, same vegas time, same vegas channel.
