why are cities in america

why are cities in america so reluctant to put in light rail? sure it costs money to build, but it's less than putting in a freeway per mile. sure it costs money to run, but think of the benefits; less traffic, less polution, less drunk driving, fewer accidents. i grew up in frankfurt, germany, and it was almost unheard of for someone to go downtown drinking and take their car. why drive when you could be downtown in less than 30 minutes, and not have to worry about who is going to quit drinking early. i am so happy that minneapolis has light rail construction underway as we speak, and i wish las vegas would get off their asses, and make it a reality. the rest of the major cities in the usa should pull their collective heads out of their asses, and start building light rail systems now, so that the systems will be encompassing enough when the need really hits(once their is way too much road traffic) that the system is useful.

ok, so i didn't play

ok, so i didn't play any more disc golf. i was going to go to san diego, but i didn't do that either. i'm going to go this weekend though. what an easter.

i want to play a real first person combat simulation. ut and counterstrike have only slightly whet my thirst. i want battles with 200-300 people, set in a large theater of war, with voice communication(where you would have to be next to a person to hear them), and a chain of command. if this exists, let me know, if it doesn't, please please please, someone create it. that is all.

gun ranges are cool. i

gun ranges are cool. i went to practice shooting yesterday at the nevada shooting academy, and got to see people shooting a m16 in full auto. i did ok, out of 100 rounds, and 3 different ranges(5, 7, and 15 meters) i only had 4 shots that were out side of the silhouette, and most of the hits were center mass. i think i may go back and shoot some submachine guns, just to get a better feel for urban terror. they even have a hk mp5 there, so i would actually be shooting a gun that is in the game. it costs $10/hour to shoot at the range, and $25/hour to shoot a smg at the range, so it's only $15 more, plus the ammo, which i'm sure is more expensive than 9mm auto. you have to shoot their ammo, which kind of sucks, but their prices aren't bad($10 for a box of 50 9mm).

after the gun range, i played a round of disc golf at sunset. it was my first time at a las vegas course, and compared to fargo, they are a little narrow. green is at such a premium here that it all gets used for multiple things. the course wasn't too bad though. i didn't keep score, but i think i probably was a few over par. this weekend, i think i will try out at least one other course. i know of 5 here, plus 1 that is kind of private.

ok, i need your help, robin williams is going to be doing standup here soon, and i need to know if i should go. please weigh in with your votes by emailing me

having lost all respect for

having lost all respect for the supreme court when they took the vote out of the hands of the people and awarded the election to bush(the outcome of the vote recount is of little importance, because the issue is who decided, the people or the court). they now have become even more tainted as seen by un-justice kennedy's actions in the school drug testing case now before them:

But most surprising was Justice Kennedy's implied slur on the plaintiffs in the case. He had posed to Mr. Boyd the hypothetical question of whether a district could have two schools, one a "druggie school" and one with drug testing. As for the first, Justice Kennedy said, "no parent would send a child to that school, except maybe your client."

quote stolen from the nytimes.com web site

what happened to america the land of the free? we have, under the guise of protecting people from themselves, slowly allowed our rights and freedoms to be eroded away to next to nonexistant. why is it that countries that don't claim to be based on freedom have more freedom than the us population? the war on drugs(quite an ironic name, especially considering the famous ad with eggs and a frying pan which stated "this is your brain on drugs") has become the war on freedoms and rights. the question that faces us now is how do we reverse the shift towards a less free society?

on an unrelated note, the final whitewater report was issued today, in which independant counsel robert ray concludes that "there was insufficient evidence to prove former President Clinton or his wife participated in wrongdoing." but on the other hand, there were lots of blowjobs in the oval office. glad to see our tax dollars being put to such good use.

well, our ultimate team is

well, our ultimate team is second from last when it comes to spirit. the only team worst than us is in first place standing wise, so i guess we are just bad losers. :) regardless, i'm having fun. the weedend before last, i played 2 pickup games during league, playing for blue and red, and i got a sunburn. it's amazing how little we notice ourselves getting in shape, but if i look at the first pickup game, to my last, there is quite a noticable difference. i have also noticed that my shins are getting larger. it's weird, i feel better, and think i look less fat, but i've gained about 15 pounds. i keep telling myself that i'm gainig muscle, but i don't know if i believe that.

i have my webcam back up and running. if you were unlucky enough to be watching this morning, you could have seen me in my underwear. if that didn't keep you from coming to this site, i don't know what will.

iver was nice enough to call me last night, and i got to talk to him and jenn from the moose lodge for quite a while. it was great to talk to fargo people again. speaking of moose lodges, i went to my first vegas moose lodge, and it was weird. it was about the size of the immediate bar area of the fargo moose, and they actually made me show my membership card to get a drink. quite a change from the fargo moose.

boy do i have a

boy do i have a lot to catch up on. where to start

israel hmmm what do i say here. at least the us has decided to finally speak out about the actions of israel, and for once they didn't put a "palestinians are bad" disclaimer at the end.

ok, on to vegas type stuff. since i last spoke to you i have seen 2 concerts. the first was ani difranco, who played at the joint in the hard rock casino. she was very good as usual. the joint holds around 1500 people, and there isn't a bad spot in the place. even while you are getting a drink, all you have to do is turn around, and you have a great view of the show. the second show, and most recent(last night) was wilco. man were they good. they played at the house of blues in mandalay bay, which holds maybe 500 people. it is soooooo small, and a very cool place to see a show, even if they didn't make it apparent that you needed a wrist band to get drinks, and the wrist bands were handed out outside the hob. wilco was great, but the crowd was not so great. lots of people talking, so much so that tweedy chastised the crowd by saying, "I hear a lot of people talking out there. I hope that means that you won big, since you paid for a show you aren't watching." anyhow, i had a lot of fun.

if anyone sees tami, tell her to get out now. leave that bastard and move far away. he's a lying, abusive, controlling, repeat offender, and you don't deserve to be treated that way.
